Romsey Hockey Club - A new era providing a club for the whole family

Romsey Hockey club will be marking an exciting new era when they kick-off their hockey season this September.

RHC, originally a ladies-only club and more lately encompassing a thriving mixed junior section, has now merged with Michelmersh and Timsbury men. The 2008/9 season will be their first season as a mixed club welcoming players of both sexes and all ages (and all abilities of course) for the first time in the club's history.

The merger was welcomed by players from both clubs as a natural progressions to ensure Romsey can continue to nurture the talented youth section and compete with other larger clubs in Hampshire. It will also ensure the town of Romsey can provide a friendly hockey club for the whole family.

A spokesperson for the club said: "This is a massive step for RHC and one which we think will strengthen all the teams and secure a successful future for hockey in the town. We have already attracted some new players and are looking forward to attracting more members, particularly in the senior sides which welcome not just experienced players but beginners and those returning to the game."

RHC has seen the junior club grow massively in recent years and this year will field 10 junior teams in all. The club will also field 3 ladies teams while the men's section will have two league teams (one of which will be designated a youth development squad).
All having regular League fixtures during the
season (September to March), each in a division of the Hampshire Hockey Association Leagues. We also run a thriving mixed juniors section on a Sunday, all based at Romsey School, Greatbridge Road, Romsey, Hampshire. SO51 8ZB.Both sections  also have a team in the local summer leagues which are played on weekday nights throughout the Summer term at various locations
