Mike Irving our new Director of Coaching for the 2011/12 season
Mike has been coaching at the Eastleigh Junior Regional Performance Centre for 3 years and has had great success coaching various teams, including the Hampshire Juniors and Chichester University, with the additional role of specialist goal keeper coach. He has assisted Trojans Ladies head coach when they were in the EHL Premier League.
This year he is very excited about his new role of Director of Coaching at Romsey Hockey Club as well working as the community hockey officer taking hockey into schools in the Winchester, Eastleigh and Hamble area. Mike will also be the Manager of the Wessex Leopards Under 16 boys squad and will take them to the Futures Cup being held at Cannock Hockey Club this October as well as running ‘Hockey 101‘ summer and holiday camps for juniors of all abilities. The Ladies 1st XI will definitely benefit from Mike’s focus this year.
Mike’s aim is to help all players reach their full potential by helping them to develop their individual skills and abilities as a member of a team.
Stuart Robertson is our Junior Club Captain for the 2011/12 season
Stuart has been coaching Romsey Mini’s (Under 8s and Under 10s) for 3 years and is also Captain of the Junior Section. Stuart has been a Level 1 coach for over 10 years and is currently working towards his Level 2 qualification. Stuart has been playing hockey since he was 9 and has represented his school, club and university to a reasonably competitive level.
He is also skipper of Romsey Mens 2nd XI which operates as a development team introducing the older junior players to men’s league hockey. The 2nd XI were promoted as champions of their division at the end of the 2009/10 season.
Jim East our Mens Coach for the 2011/12 season
Jim has been playing since age 8 and has been coaching since age 16. Jim is a level I coach working towards level II qualification. He has been coaching at Romsey for 2 years and has coached boys Under 14s, Ladies 1st XI and now Mens 1st XI & Mens 2nd XI. He will play for Mens 2nd XI development side this season.
Chris Arnold our Under 12 Boys Coach for the 2011/12 season
Chris has been playing competitive hockey for 30 years and gained a Level II coaching qualification 20 years ago. He recently refreshed his qualification by attending a couple of courses.
Last year he coached the Romsey under 10s and this year he will be coaching the Boys under 12s. He has played for four clubs and his playing highlight was to score the winner in the Hampshire Trophy Cup Final for Old Edwardians.
Carly Peebles our Under 16s, 14s and 12s Girls Coach for the 2011/12 season
Carly has been coaching Romsey Junior Girls for five years and the Romsey Ladies 2nd XI for two years. Other experience includes coaching for Hampshire under 14s, 15s and 16s girls for Hampshire for three years and a number of other Clubs and School teams.
Carly has played at national league level and is now dedicated to coaching at Romsey for the Ladies 2nd XI, the Under 12s, 14s and 16s girls.
Carl Hendy our U16 and U14 Boys Coach for the 2011/12 season
Has been coaching in Romsey for many years and scored more Goals in Romsey than most people have had hot dinners.
Other then coaching, training, cooking and scoring goals Carl keeps an eye on the money.
Carl is a large presence in the club!
